Dordogne invites players to a beautiful watercolour world next year

    Game News

French indie studio UN JE NE SAIS QUOI has announced Dordogne, a narrative adventure game that sees players revisiting childhood memories in a gorgeous watercolour rendition of the Dordogne region.

Dordogne follows the 32-year-old Mimi as she visits the home of her recently deceased grandmother. Before her passing, Mimi’s grandmother left letters and puzzles behind for Mimi to find and solve, “to remind her to make the most out of life” and as a way of reminiscing on childhood summers spent at the home.

Taking place in both the past and the present, the game sees you playing as the adult Mimi and her 10-year-old self, with the young Mimi’s discoveries in the past affecting the present. Through this, and the assortment of souvenirs left behind at the home, you’ll piece together the story of Mimi’s childhood and her relationship with her grandmother.

Dordogne also offers a chance to explore the titular French region, beautifully brought to life in a watercolour art style. You’ll go on forest walks, explore caves, go kayaking, take photos, and more as you discover what Dordogne has to offer.

UN JE NE SAIS QUOI describes itself as “an artistic swissknife company” that works in a lot of different mediums, including audiovisual works, animation, and videogames. Founded by illustrator, comic book artist, and “watercolor addict” Cedric Babouche, the company “like[s] to think outside of the box and develop projects by connecting them to the media that suit them the most.”

Dordogne is planned for release in 2021 on Nintendo Switch and PC. If you like the look of it, wishlisting it on Steam is a good way to show your support to the developers.
