Indie horror Kholat to get a limited physical release on Switch

    Game News

Kholat, an indie horror game inspired by true events and narrated by Sean Bean, is getting a limited-edition physical release on Switch thanks to Red Art Games.

Developed by IMGN.PRO, Kholat is an atmospheric first-person horror adventure that sees players exploring the cold, inhospitable Ural Mountains to try to find the truth behind the Dyatlov Pass incident. With just a basic survival kit, you’ll need to manage your health and wellbeing as you try to understand the kholat’s cryptic clues and the ghostly figures that call it home.

    Here’s the official feature list:

    • Narrated by Sean Bean
    • immersive exploration experience
    • Chilling atmosphere and tension
    • Self made story inspired by true events
    • Non-linear open world
    • Challenging exploration
    • In-game navigation by map and compass

Kholat is based on a real-life event in 1959 that resulted in the mysterious deaths of nine hikers on Kholat Syakhl in Russia. Their tents were found torn open from the inside, and their deaths were determined to be the result of “compelling natural force”. Subsequent investigations—including as recently as last year—found an avalanche to be the most likely cause, but there have been numerous other theories over the years, including military testing and paranormal events.

Kholat originally came out on PC in 2015, followed by digital console releases on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and most recently, Nintendo Switch. The physical Switch version of Kholat is limited to 3,800 copies, and is available to pre-order now through Red Art Games’ online store.
