NieR: Automata’s 2B is coming to SoulCalibur VI

    Game News

Soulcalibur VI is already the best game in the series since the lofty heights of Soulcalibur II, and the best fighting game in a year that’s been chock full of them. It’s set to get even better in the near future, too, with Bandai Namco announcing that the next DLC character will be none other than 2B of NieR: Automata fame.

Bandai Namco made the announcement at Paris Games Week yesterday, and shared a new trailer introducing the YoRHa No. 2 Type B android.

Fans of NieR: Automata will see a lot of familiar attacks and moves in that trailer, including the flashy dodge that is a cornerstone of Automata‘s combat system. While 2B has access to a range of different weapons in the source material, in Soulcalibur VI she fights with what are easily her most recognisable: the dual swords Virtuous Contract and Virtuous Treaty.

Related reading: Part of what makes this news so exciting is the fact that 2B’s original game, NieR: Automata, is one of the finest games ever made—as I outlined in my review last year.

Alongside 2B herself, the upcoming DLC will also include a stage and music track from NieR: Automata, a second outfit for 2B based on Kaine from the original NieR, and an assortment of customisation items—including the most important item of all, an Emil head. Go forth and create your Yoko Taro custom characters!

There’s no word yet on when the 2B DLC will be available, but it presumably won’t be too far away. In the mean time, feast your eyes on a new character illustration for her, from the Soulcalibur series’ lead artist, Takuji Kawano.
