On Friday, Marvelous and XSEED unveiled a couple of different special editions for Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town, as well as introducing the world to “Buffy the Buffalo”, a plushie that’ll be available with certain versions of the game. Just look at this adorable creature:
In Europe, Buffy comes as a pre-order bonus from select retailers, with either the standard edition or the Europe-exclusive Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town Deluxe Edition. Folks in North America wanting to adopt Buffy will need to pick up the Pioneers of Olive Town Premium Edition, which is exclusive to that region.
Buffy the Buffalo follows in the footsteps of the Strawberry Cow pocket plush, which was a limited pre-order bonus for Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town. At this rate, we’re only a few more games away from being able to run a whole cute plushie farm.
It’s a little odd to have different regional special editions for the game, but I guess that’s how Marvelous and XSEED roll. Anyway, here’s what they come with:
Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town Premium Edition (North America, MSRP $59.99):
- a copy of the game
- a Buffy the Buffalo pocket plushie
- a 13.5″ by 24″ cloth poster featuring the full key illustration for the game
- a Collector’s Box featuring exclusive artwork from Igusa Matsuyama
Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town Deluxe Edition (Europe, RRP £54.99)
- a copy of the game
- an A5 notebook with 140 pages
- 10 trading cards featuring marriage candidates
- an A3 Poster featuring exclusive artwork from Igusa Matsuyama
- a Collector’s Box featuring exclusive artwork from Igusa Matsuyama
Europe probably gets the better deal here (marriage candidate trading cards ❤️), but the poster that comes with the Premium Edition looks really nice, too. I’m sure there’ll be a few hardcore collectors who end up buying both.
There’s no word yet on whether the Deluxe Edition or Buffy pre-order bonus will be available in Australia and New Zealand, as part of the wider “Europe” publishing region. I’ve reached out to Marvelous for clarification, and will update this if I get any more information.
Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town is coming exclusively to Nintendo Switch on 23 March 2020 for North America and 26 March 2020 for Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. Announced during a Nintendo Direct at the end of October, it promises “more freedom than ever before” as players try to build up a successful farm in the wilderness, tame wild animals, customise their new plot, and befriend (and fall in love with) the locals in the nearby Olive Town.
