Crystal Chronicles Remastered will get a free demo at launch

    Game News

A demo for Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered will launch alongside the full game on August 27, Square Enix has announced.

Called Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Lite, the demo lets players explore the first three dungeons in the game. It supports both single player and online multiplayer, with cross-platform support for the latter. Lite version players will also be able to join a session hosted by someone playing the full version and play up to 13 dungeons, allowing up to four people to play together with one copy of the full game. Any progress from the demo will carry over to the full game, too.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered is—as you’d expect from the title—an updated release of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, which originally came out in 2002 for Nintendo GameCube. It took a more action-oriented, less character-driven approach than typical Final Fantasy games, and was designed with cooperative mulitplayer in mind.

As well as improved visuals, UI updates, and new musical arrangements, the remaster adds a number of new features. There’s online, cross-platform multiplayer with new communication tools to help players coordinate, new post-game, high-level dungeons, and a “Mimic” feature that lets players take on the appearance of other characters within the game.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered, as well as the Lite version demo, come out on August 27 for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Android, and iOS.
