Saviours of Sapphire Wings & Stranger of Sword City Revisited launch March 2021

    Game News

Saviours of Sapphire Wings & Stranger of Sword City Revisited, a double pack of Experience Inc. dungeon crawlers RPGs, comes to Nintendo Switch and PC in March 2021. North America will get them on March 16, Europe on March 19, and Oceania on March 23.

Saviours of Sapphire Wings originally came out in Japan last year for PlayStation Vita, though that version never saw a global release. It follows a group of knights as they navigate trap-riddled labyrinths in an effort to end a 100-year reign of darkness. There are nine classes to choose from when building your party, and an emphasis on bonding with allies as well as delving into dungeons.

Here’s the game’s outline, from Steam:

Knights, Assemble!: Muster all your might and cunning to confront the forces of the Overlord of Darkness! Assemble your party, develop your own playstyle with traps and tactics, and exploit your enemies’ elemental weaknesses to overcome the most powerful servants of darkness.

Bound by Battle: Lead allies into battle and keep them alive to strengthen your bonds and unlock their true potential. Off the battlefield, have one-on-one conversations with your comrades to discuss their history and outlook on your adventures. The bonds you build with your allies will be the true bulwark against your fight against the Overlord of Darkness!

Hunters of Darkness: Turn the tables on the denizens of evil by setting traps to corner the elusive and dangerous monsters, and defeat them to obtain rare and powerful treasures!

Strangers of Sword City Revisited is a remaster of Stranger of Sword City, which includes expanded character creation options, in-game events, and new items and equipment. The original game came out in 2015 in Japan and 2016 globally, followed by the Revisited version—then a PlayStation Vita exclusive—in 2016 and 2017, respectively.

The Saviours of Sapphire Wings & Strangers of Sword City Revisited double pack is also getting a limited edition release for Switch, which is up for pre-order now through NIS America. As well as both games, it comes with a 2-disc soundtrack, a hardcover art book, and a “Sapphire Wing Emblem” enamel pin.

Earlier this year, Experience released its newest dungeon RPG in Japan: Yomi wo Saku Hana. It’s set in an alternate history, dystopian version of 1970s Tokyo, and it looks fascinating—here’s hoping NIS America (or anyone else) picks that up for localisation as well. Perhaps if Saviours of Sapphire Wings does well enough…
